The Yarsé, also written Yaarse, appear in histories of commerce, religious learning, mobility and memory. The museum does not reduce these histories to one origin. It distinguishes community traditions, scholarly work and documents that can test a proposition. Names and spellings vary across places and sources. A resemblance is therefore not enough to establish common ancestry. This first story invites visitors to explore galleries, people and sources while keeping degrees of evidence, open questions and possible corrections visible.
