Kharim Kouanda, also called Kharim Yamana in family memory, is the foundational figure in the Yamana branch dossier. Current family authorities identify him as the father of Mahamadi Lamine Kouanda. Kharim Kouanda is believed to have passed away around the 1960s. Family and community accounts associate him with an inaugural prayer connected with the foundation phase of the Central Mosque of Ouagadougou in the 1950s. This history does not associate him with the inauguration of the 1979 reconstruction. The dossier remains open: civil records, committee documents and mosque traces still need to be compared. Kharim and Dr. Assimi Kouanda are not presented as genealogical relatives.
